About This Piece

This book contains the early paintings, drawings and musings pertaining to Ivan Clarke’s idea of a world inhabited solely by Dogs and Cats. Clarke would later go on to develop and name this world “Alveridgea” and tell the tale of “The legend of the Lonely Dog”. The book includes a delightful story which was the first development of the novel later published called “Lonely Dog."

About Ivan Clarke & Lonely Dog

Ivan Clarke is an internationally recognised New Zealand artist based in Queenstown, with work exhibited and represented through galleries in New Zealand, Australia, the US and the UK. He is best known today for Lonely Dog — the whimsical world of Arthur “Lonely Dog” Snout and the hounds and cats of Port Alveridge — with his Lonely Dog Legacy Collection spanning over 200 original artworks. Several pieces, including the bronze sculptures, were produced in collaboration with the world-famous Wētā Workshop.
