Standing with Ukraine’s displaced children
The people of Ukraine are located between our long-term Romanian and Russian partners. Due to these relationships in both countries and the friendships and connections with Ukraine, we are well positioned to reach out and help.
Since February 24, 2022, we have been actively supporting children and families affected by the conflict in Ukraine. In the early months, we sent teams to the Ukraine border and into Chernivtsi, delivering urgently needed supplies and witnessing the situation firsthand. Direct support was able to be delivered in March, June, and October 2022.
Since then, we’ve been able to provide funds to two foundations working on the ground with displaced Ukrainian children. In early 2023, our founders Sue and Carl, visited displaced families and children in both Romania and Bulgaria - followed by another visit from Sue later that year.
As the need has grown, so has our support. We are now funding a dedicated school in Medias, Romania, for displaced Ukrainian children, employing Ukrainian teachers to provide consistent education in their own language. More children have continued to arrive, fleeing conflict and loss. This school continues to be a place of hope, healing, and stability for children who have experienced deep trauma. Our partners remain deeply committed to ensuring these children are not forgotten and have every chance to thrive.
In Sofia, Bulgaria, we’re also providing regular food and hygiene parcels to hundreds of displaced Ukrainian people—helping meet urgent, everyday needs.
To continue this vital work in a long-term, sustainable way, we need ongoing support. Your donations help us house, feed, educate, and bring hope to children and families whose lives have been turned upside down by war.
