How did an ordinary mum from Queenstown not only launch an international humanitarian organisation, but also see it grow to change the lives of hundreds of vulnerable and abandoned children?

Her cause is one we can all feel passionate about: 150 million orphans needing our help. Yet Sue has managed to break this huge social issue down to the simple, everyday reality of doing everything she can to make sure one more child is reached and rescued.

Following on from his heartbreaking 2008 documentary Someone, Somewhere Loves Me, Rob Harley tells the powerful story of "the orphan lady", Sue van Schreven.

Join Sue as she talks about hopes and dreams with some of the older children who were rescued as toddlers and now live at the Casa Kiwi home in Romania. Then, will Sue manage to track down the Roma sisters whose story broke viewers' hearts in 2008?

Be inspired by Sue's desire to care for more children and extend the reach of Orphans Aid International's work in New Zealand and overseas, in Romania, Russia, India and Uganda. The stories are told in Rob's real and honest journalistic style, sure to hit home with viewers of all ages.

Where things are now

The Orphan Lady screened on TVNZ 1 on Good Friday 2013. The children Sue rescued as toddlers in this film are now young adults. Today Orphans Aid International continues its vital work to support and care for children around the world.
