Yes its snowing hard in Romania and right across to Russia where we provide for local orphanages. Your regular sponsorship helps pay for very practical things like heating bills. Christmas is just about upon us. Its our biggest time of the year. We not only provide our regular care to the children in the homes we are involved with but we also reach out to other orphaned children in institutions on the streets, hospitals and poor communities. With your help we'll provide hope and love in a tangible way to hundreds of children this year. Please check out our gifts page, these gifts can be made on behalf of a loved one and we can provide the card which you can share with them to show a gift has been made on their behalf!!! Or you can simply pick which gift you want to donate to a needy child. You'll find ways you can help children and also great gift ideas for your loved ones! Thanks for your help!

It was just awesome to receive pictures from Romania to see the joy of one of the 6 year old boys who was adopted this past week to his very own family. Initially he was found abandoned in a hospital before coming to live with us. For him to receive his very own family is the greatest outcome. We're sad to say goodbye but happy for him.

Orphanage leaders gather

Sue has just returned from a trip to Paris to promote our "Help the world" Cookbook and to the Ukraine to meet with orphanage workers. It was particularly helpful to pull together our key leaders from Romania and Russia together to connect on how we can best serve the orphaned and abandoned. Within the next few days as a result of our meetings more information will be uploaded on this site on each of these project areas. Thank you to the Ukraine for hosting us!

Christchurch Update

Thanks to everyone that has given to the people of Canterbury either through our appeal or that of other organisations. We have even been given a 4 berth caravan which will be making its way to Christchurch next week. As part of our fundraising we have been street collecting and networking with other groups. A German publisher is publishing a Charity Cookbook for us as a direct result of Sues recent trip to The Paris Cookbook Fair. All profits from the book will be donated to Canterbury Earthquake victims. We have some other great fundraising initiatives in the pipeline which we will communicate with you soon. We will be distributing practical help and support in conjunction with Christchurch community groups. Any enquiries please direct them to russell@orphansaidinternational.org thanks for your support!

Our thoughts and prayers for all those affected by the Christchurch [New Zealand] earthquake today. Orphans Aid International has launched an appeal for victims of the Canterbury Earthquake. Rescuing children is what we are all about. This week three children, siblings aged 2 and 4 will come to Casa Kiwi in Romania. The team will love them and they will have a safe place away from the violence and neglect they have experienced.

Christmas for the Fatherless

Its only 15 days till Christmas. Next week we send special Christmas funds to each of our orphanage projects, we're hoping to be able to raise enough to purchase some Cars 4 Christmas as well to transport children to school etc - we'd love your help. Plus we're helping a few other places such as an orphanage for girls in Peru some orphaned children in Zimbabwe and some children in some very needy families in Romania. Plus for the first time we're also giving food hampers to Kiwi families that we have identified as needing some help this Christmas. If you can please help us by making a donation for Christmas for an orphan or funds towards a vehicle we'd be very appreciative. Its great you're reading this as it means our new website has gone live! Its been a combination of lots of work from lots of people so that we can communicate more fully with you! A massive thanks to Henoch and Richard from Imajeo Media Group and Jason and all the team at Fuel Design the website builders. We have lots more we want to add to the website as well, but we're delighted with our new "tool". We hope you enjoy finding your way around and learning more about how we can rescue the abandoned! A new family and a new child

This week at our home in Transylvania Romania we have two exciting events happening. Firstly an infant child Radu that has been in our care since March is being adopted. The court hearing is tomorrow morning and he will then go with his new family! He'll still be in the same town so this will be a huge help with the transition!

Secondly Thursday we have a new girl [Alina-not real name] coming to the home from the hospital she turns 2 this week so by Romanian law she can be taken to our care. This is massive for this child its the first step in seeing her given the love and care she deserves. Its not only life changing for Alina but brings big adjustments to the other children in the home as well.

Its going to be a great week! Last Christmas I had the joy of going to a Romanian hospital to pick up a new child and bring him back to the care of the team at Casa Kiwi. It was an unforgettable experience we are so happy for Alina. Welcome to Casa Kiwi! - Sue

Christmas for Orphanages.

This year will be the 7th Christmas that Orphans Aid International has sent extra help to children and orphanges in time for Christmas. For many of us Christmas is a time to celebrate for many of them Christmas and celebration are unknown. Last year we saw first hand the joy of delivering food supplies to poor families in the snow. We experienced Christmas celebrations with a 4 year old for whom it was his very first Christmas.

This year we will once again provide the opportunity to give a special meal, an item of clothing and a special gift to children in our homes and in others. Please check out our Gifts tab under Get Involved/Donate.

This year we would also LOVE to raise enough funds to provide some vehicles to transport children more to come on this...........
